Valentine's Day has come and gone again. Usually my mom has sent me a card or even a small gift. This year, nothing. And I'm not in a relationship so nothing there either.
It's not really that I need gifts. But it's nice to be thought about. It's nice to know SOMEONE somewhere has been thinking about you enough to put time into getting you SOMETHING. Anything. It doesn't have to be chocolates or flowers. It could be like... "Hey. Here's an Amazon gift card to go toward a stuffed animal you like." Or "Here's a WoW mount/pet because you love that game so much."
I miss feeling like I was on a pedestal. Like I was something to fight for.
I've officially lost track of how long it's been. But it's somewhere around 2 years. If you ever come back here and read this, don't doubt I mean you. You have been the only one to leave that kind of lasting mark. I don't know exactly what that means because, clearly, the same wasn't true in reverse.
Why do I still miss you?
Last night, I dreamt that you returned. You gave me an order and I obeyed. Without hesitation. Even though we haven't spoken.
I'd like to say I wouldn't do that. I would stubbornly refuse at every opportunity and guard my heart.
I'd like to say that, but it would be a lie.
Happy Valentine's Day, jedi nurse.

I hear you, and I can appreciate how you feel. It's understandable to want to feel loved and appreciated, especially on Valentine's Day when love is in the air. It's natural to feel disappointed when expectations are not met, and it can be tough to deal with those feelings of loneliness and neglect.
However, it's important to remember that love is not just about receiving gifts or attention. Love can be found in many forms, including friendships, family relationships, and even self-love. There may be people in your life who care about you deeply and show their love in different ways, even if they didn't send you gifts on Valentine's Day.
It's also important to recognize that self-love is critical to personal happiness and well-being. Take some time to treat yourself with kindness and do things that make you happy, whether it's indulging in your favorite hobbies, spending time with loved ones, or simply practicing self-care. By prioritizing your own needs and taking care of yourself, you are ultimately investing in your own happiness and well-being, regardless of whether or not others acknowledge it.
Remember that you are valued and loved, and there are people who care about you even if they didn't show it in the way you expected on Valentine's Day. Keep your head up, and focus on the positive aspects of your life.
